The following instructions will be used to install the MyEducator add-in. This method should be used if you are unable to access the Microsoft store for some reason(usually due to restrictions of a school provided Office license).
Step 1 - Preparation
In order for this installer to be used, you MUST download and install Microsoft office first. The Office version you download from the Apple app store, and the version you download from Microsoft directly are different. You will need the application from Microsoft(found at office.com or through your school) for any Myeducator course, and to use this installer.
Step 2 - Download the installer
Download the zip file attatched at the bottom of this article. Navigate to the folder with the newly downloaded zip file, and double-click the zip file. This should unzip the installer, and you should see a file name 'MyEducator-Installer-Mac.app' in the folder. Double-click the app to launch it.
Step 3 - Running the Installer
Your first time running the installer, you will be met with a warning making sure you want to allow the app to run. If you click 'Open' this will allow the installer to run.
Once you allow the installer to run, you'll be met with a window that provides options for which applications you would like to install or uninstall the add-in for. Just check the box next to the desired application, and click 'install' or 'uninstall'.
Your operating system will pop up one more warning window since the installer is putting the add-in file into one of your system folders.
After clicking 'Allow' the installer will automatically run and pop up a window notifying you of completion.
*note* After the installer runs, you may need to restart any open Office applications before the add-in appears in your Office applications
Step 4 - Finding your installed add-in
After the successful installation of your add-in, and restarting any open Office applications, you can find the add-in by opening a blank Excel/Powerpoint/Word project, clicking on the 'Home' ribbon, and then clicking on 'Add-ins' on the far right-hand side of the ribbon.
The add-in installed using this article will appear under 'Developer Add-ins'. Once you click that, the add-in will open in an embedded window, and you will be able to begin your assignments.
Please reach out to us at support@myeducator.com if you encounter any errors or other problems using this installer.
