A recent update to Microsoft Excel on macOS broke some critical functionality that allowed MyEducator exam files to run properly resulting in runtime errors for macOS users.
If you're experiencing this problem, the following steps will help you uninstall the current Excel version, and install a previous version not affected by the problem.
- Open Excel on your Mac, and go to 'help', and then 'Check for Updates'
- In the 'Microsoft AutoUpdate' window that opens, uncheck the box that says 'Automatically keep Microsoft apps up to date'. This will prevent the updater from overriding the version we're about to install.
- Close out of Excel completely (right-click the icon in your dock and click 'quit')
- Open your 'Applications' folder. You can find this by opening Finder, clicking on 'Macintosh HD', and opening the 'Applications' folder.
- find 'Microsoft Excel' in your list of applications. Right-click, and select 'Move to Trash'.
- Click on this link to download the .pkg installer from Microsoft.
- Once the file is downloaded, double-click the .pkg file. An installer will open. Follow the prompts to install the application.
- Once the installation is complete, open Excel, and the VBA assignment files should work again. If they don't, try quitting out of Excel, and re-opening it. If it continues to not work, reach out to our Support team for additional troubleshooting help.
