This is a guide for those whose Canvas administrators have not installed the MyEducator CanvasConnect external tool at the Canvas institutional level and therefore need to install the tool at the Canvas course level.


To verify if the MyEducator CanvasConnect external tool has been installed by your Canvas administrators at the Canvas institutional level, refer to this guide.


You will need institution specific Consumer Key and Shared Secret values provided to you by your MyEducator representative to complete this process.


1. Navigate to the Canvas course you will be using.

2.  Navigate to the Settings page.


3. Select the Apps tab.



4. Click the View App Configurations button.


5. Click the + App button.

Note: If the + App button does not appear on this page, you do not have permission from your Canvas Administrators to add apps on your own. Please contact your Canvas Administrators for help.



6. Change the Configuration Type dropdown to By URL



7. Fill in the textboxes for the Add App popup. Then click the Submit button.

    Name: MyEducator CanvasConnect

    Consumer Key: (Ask your sales representative for this value)

    Shared Secret: (Ask your sales representative for this value)

    Config URL: https://app.myeducator.com/links/canvas_connect.xml_config



8. Check to make sure the app has been added.
